The best games for a low-end PC in 2026 are the ones whose official minimum specs fit your machine, not the ones that "feel" light. League of Legends, Roblox, Stardew Valley and Team Fortress 2 run on almost anything. Fortnite and Hades handle integrated graphics. And with a basic graphics card like a GTX 970, even a modern free game like Zenless Zone Zero is on the table.

Here's the short version:

  • Almost any PC (2–4 GB RAM, old graphics): League of Legends, Roblox, Team Fortress 2, Stardew Valley, Terraria, Brawlhalla, Dota 2.
  • Integrated graphics (Intel HD 4000 / Vega 8-class): Fortnite, Hades, Warframe.
  • A basic graphics card (GTX 950–1050-class): Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, Hollow Knight, Genshin Impact.
  • The "big" game a modest PC can still run: Zenless Zone Zero, with a GTX 970 and 8 GB of RAM.
  • Not low-end anymore: Marvel Rivals, Wuthering Waves and NTE all ask for 16 GB of RAM.

How to tell if a game will run on your PC

Check three numbers against the game's minimum specs: RAM, graphics, and free storage. You can find all three in Windows: Settings → System → About shows your RAM, and Task Manager → Performance shows your GPU and drives.

Minimum specs usually mean low settings at around 30 FPS, so if your PC just meets them, expect a playable experience, not a smooth one. If it beats them comfortably, you'll have room for higher settings.

Games that run on almost any PC

These ask for 4 GB of RAM or less and graphics from well over a decade ago. If your PC turns on and runs Windows 10, it can probably play them.

Game Price Min. RAM Min. graphics Storage
League of Legends Free 2 GB GeForce 400 series / Radeon HD 6570 / Intel HD 4600 16 GB
Roblox Free 1 GB DirectX 10 support 300 MB+
Team Fortress 2 Free 512 MB DirectX 8.1 15 GB
Stardew Valley $14.99 2 GB 256 MB video memory 500 MB
Terraria $9.99 2.5 GB 128 MB video memory 200 MB
Brawlhalla Free 2 GB Not listed 800 MB
Dota 2 Free 4 GB GeForce 8600/9600GT / Radeon HD 2600/3600 60 GB

Specs are from Riot Games (September 2026), the Roblox Help Center and each game's Steam page (checked October 2026).

League of Legends is the standout. Riot's current minimum is 2 GB of RAM and a GeForce 400-series card, and it's one of the most played games in the world. Note that it now needs Windows 10 (build 19041 or later) or Windows 11.

Stardew Valley and Terraria cost a few dollars but run on almost anything and offer hundreds of hours. Team Fortress 2 and Brawlhalla are the free picks if you want quick online matches.

Worth it if your PC is an old office desktop or a cheap laptop. Skip this tier if you want modern 3D graphics.

Games that run on integrated graphics

This tier is for PCs and laptops without a dedicated graphics card, as long as they have a reasonably recent integrated GPU and 4–8 GB of RAM.

Game Price Min. RAM Min. graphics Storage
Fortnite Free 8 GB Intel HD 4000 / AMD Radeon Vega 8 Not listed
Hades $24.99 4 GB 1 GB VRAM, DirectX 10 15 GB
Warframe Free 4 GB DirectX 11 graphics 75 GB

Fortnite is the big one here. Epic's minimum is an Intel HD 4000 or Radeon Vega 8 with 8 GB of RAM, and its Performance mode exists precisely for low-end machines. Expect low settings on integrated graphics.

Hades is a full-price indie game that runs well on modest hardware and was widely praised by critics on release. Warframe is free and surprisingly light on the GPU, but it needs 75 GB of storage, so check your drive first.

Games that need a basic graphics card

These need a dedicated GPU, but an old one is fine: think GTX 950 to GTX 1050, or an equivalent Radeon.

Game Price Min. RAM Min. graphics Storage
Counter-Strike 2 Free 8 GB 1 GB DirectX 11 card (Shader Model 5.0) 85 GB
Apex Legends Free 6 GB GTX 950 / Radeon HD 7790 75 GB
Hollow Knight $14.99 4 GB GTX 560 Ti / Radeon HD 7750 9 GB
Genshin Impact Free 8 GB GTX 1050 / Intel Iris Xe 110 GB

Counter-Strike 2 asks for very little graphics power but 8 GB of RAM and 85 GB of space. Apex Legends wants 6 GB of RAM and a GTX 950-class card.

Genshin Impact is the most demanding game in this tier, but HoYoverse lists Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics as a minimum, so many recent laptops can run it at low settings. It needs 110 GB of free space.

The modern game a low-end PC can still run: Zenless Zone Zero

If your PC has a GTX 970 or better and 8 GB of RAM, Zenless Zone Zero is the most modern-looking free game you can realistically play. Its Steam page lists a GTX 970, a 7th-gen Core i5 and 8 GB of RAM as the minimum, with 75 GB of storage. It also says "HDD Supported, SSD Recommended", which matters on older PCs still running a hard drive.

It's a fast action game with short, mission-based sessions, which suits modest hardware better than a huge open world. My guide to the best free anime games on PC compares it with Genshin Impact and the heavier anime games.

Worth it if you have a GTX 970-class card and want something that looks current. Skip it if you're on integrated graphics.

Some free games that look casual now ask for mid-range hardware:

  • Marvel Rivals: 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1060 / RX 580 / Arc A380 at minimum, plus 70 GB of storage.
  • Wuthering Waves: 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 and 150 GB of storage at minimum.
  • NTE: Neverness to Everness: 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 at minimum.

If your PC has 8 GB of RAM, these are the games where an upgrade makes the biggest difference. My guide to the best upgrades for a low-end gaming PC shows what to fix first.

How to get more FPS from a low-end PC

A few changes help in almost every game on this list:

  • Use the game's lowest preset first, then raise texture quality if you have VRAM to spare. Textures cost memory more than speed.
  • Lower the resolution scale before lowering the screen resolution itself. Many games, including Fortnite, have a 3D resolution slider.
  • Close background apps, especially browsers. On 8 GB of RAM, a browser with many tabs can cost you frames.
  • Plug in your laptop and set Windows to its best performance power mode.
  • Keep your graphics driver updated. Driver updates often include fixes for new games.

The bottom line

Pick games by their official minimum specs, not their reputation. On an old PC or a basic laptop, League of Legends, Roblox, Stardew Valley and Team Fortress 2 are safe bets. With integrated graphics, Fortnite and Hades are the standouts. Add a basic graphics card and 8 GB of RAM, and Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero all open up.
