Zenless Zone Zero needs, at minimum, a GTX 970, a 7th-gen Intel Core i5, 8 GB of RAM and 75 GB of free storage on Windows 10 64-bit. That's the lowest bar of any major anime action game on PC right now, which makes ZZZ the best bet for an older gaming PC.

Here's the short version:

  • Minimum GPU: GeForce GTX 970, a card from 2014.
  • RAM: 8 GB, even at recommended settings.
  • Storage: 75 GB, HDD supported, SSD recommended.
  • Recommended: 10th-gen Core i7 and a GTX 1660.
  • Verdict: if your PC was a decent gaming machine at any point in the last ten years, it's worth trying.

These are the figures HoYoverse's publishing arm, Cognosphere, lists on the game's Steam page:

Minimum Recommended
OS Windows 10 64-bit Windows 10 64-bit
CPU Intel Core i5 (7th gen) Intel Core i7 (10th gen)
RAM 8 GB 8 GB
GPU GeForce GTX 970 GeForce GTX 1660
DirectX 11 11
Storage 75 GB 75 GB
Notes HDD supported, SSD recommended HDD supported, SSD recommended

Two things stand out. The RAM doesn't change between minimum and recommended: 8 GB is enough either way. And the game still officially supports hard drives, which most new releases have dropped.

Can a low-end PC run Zenless Zone Zero?

The honest answer: most older gaming PCs, yes. A budget office PC with only integrated graphics, probably not well.

The GTX 970 is the line to measure against. Cards in the same rough class or above include the GTX 1060, GTX 1650 Super, GTX 1660, RX 580 and anything newer from the RTX or RX 6000 families. If your graphics card sits there, you're at or above the minimum.

What the minimum spec usually means in practice: low to medium settings and a playable, not perfect, frame rate. Fights in ZZZ are fast and flashy, so the busiest moments will be the first place you feel a weak GPU.

The CPU bar is gentle too. A 7th-gen Core i5 is from 2017. Most quad-core desktop chips from that era or newer are in range.

Will it run on a laptop?

It depends on the graphics. A gaming laptop with a dedicated GTX 1650 or better meets the minimum on paper. Laptop GPUs often run slower than desktop cards with the same name, so expect to sit closer to low settings.

Thin-and-light laptops with only integrated graphics aren't listed in the official specs. They might launch the game, but there's no publisher guarantee, so don't count on a smooth experience.

Storage: the part to check first

75 GB is the smallest size of the big anime games, but it's still a lot on a 256 GB laptop drive. The game also gets regular updates, so leave extra room beyond that figure.

HDD is officially supported, which is good news for older desktops with a big hard drive. An SSD is still recommended: loading screens and moving between areas will be noticeably faster.

Settings to lower first on a weak PC

If you're near the minimum specs, these general rules apply to ZZZ like most modern games:

  • Lower the resolution or render scale first. It has the biggest effect on GPU load.
  • Drop shadows and effects quality before textures. They cost a lot in busy fights.
  • Cap the frame rate at a level your PC can hold steadily. A stable lower number feels better than a number that jumps around.
  • Close background apps, especially browsers, if you're on 8 GB of RAM.

Is Zenless Zone Zero worth playing on an old PC?

Worth it if your PC has a GTX 970-class card or better and you want stylish, fast combat in short missions. Skip it if you want a giant open world to wander — that's more Genshin Impact's style.

ZZZ is also on Steam since June 2026, alongside HoYoverse's own launcher, so you can get it from whichever you prefer.

The bottom line

Zenless Zone Zero has the most forgiving PC requirements of any big anime game: a GTX 970, 8 GB of RAM and 75 GB. If your PC is older but was built for gaming, this is the one to pick. Lower resolution and effects first, and put it on an SSD if you can.

FAQ
